I heard the single on the radio and thought, "Wow. That is great. But I don't know what the rest of the album would be like." My goodness. The album just keeps getting better with more listens. One of my friends described it perfectly- "It scratches an itch for me."
We are enormous fans of Pinegrove but that feels like an understatement. We are for everything they do from their DIY ethic to our fellow Jersey roots and of course to their musical novelty, more pressingly, their lyricism. I contend there's no current alt/indie project that shares the challenge towards articulation that Evan produces.
Every track is indispensable. The album is consummate like that; Old friends is incomplete without new friends, cadmium without aphasia, so on/so forth.
“One morning this sadness will fossilize, and I will forget how to cry. I'll keep going to work and you won't see a change, save perhaps a slight gray in my eye.” As gut-wrenching as the concept of a second puberty. I'm gonna lie down and cry. Jennifer Gruber
